3 important criminal laws have been passed in the Lok Sabha. These include ‘Indian Judicial Code Bill’ (BNS), ‘Indian Civil Defense Code Bill’ (BNSS) and ‘Indian Evidence Bill’ (BSB). While presenting these bills, the Home Minister said, “These three laws will provide freedom from the mentality of slavery. These bills encompass justice, equality and fairness.”

The issue was raised in the Lok Sabha today while discussing the Criminal Law Bill on ‘mob lynching’ and speaking against the country. Home Minister Amit Shah discussed three new laws, which include the provision of death penalty for mob lynching. The main objective of these laws is to reform the criminal justice system in the country, by focusing on ‘justice’ rather than ‘punishment’.

Shah said, “The new laws are based on the three principles of individual freedom, human rights and equal treatment of all.” In these, crimes against women and children have been kept in mind. He also said that there is a provision for death penalty for heinous crimes like ‘mob lynching’.

In these laws, attention has also been paid to the rights of common people and matters related to the security of the country. This is an important step for development and reform, which aims to reduce criminality and strengthen justice.
